What is a ceramic coating and why would I want that?
A ceramic coating is a liquid polymer applied to the exterior of a vehicle that chemically bonds with the paint, creating a long-lasting protective layer. It’s not a wax or sealant—it is extremely more durable and can last many years with proper maintenance. Most of them are made up of a chemical compound called silicon dioxide, often times mixed with titanium dioxide. Once cured, it forms a very hard, hydrophobic (water-repelling) layer over your clear coat. These can be applied by consumers with DIY kits, but it is reccomended to have a professional apply them because if you do not have the clear coat prepared the right way then your ceramic coating will bond correctly or not last very long. To keep your coating protected, proper maintenance is key. Simply hand wash your vehicle at least monthly or use a touchless car wash. Avoid abrasive drive-through car washes and ensure regular cleaning to prevent damage. The lifespan of your coating depends on your care of it. You will be provided a guide sheet on the safest cleaning methods of maintaining your coating.
